Just a day in the life of an artist.

February 9th

I have been working on a book titled A Success Book for Artists.  Saturday I met with friend Anne Vickstrom who is helping me write the book.  We discussed layout, size, and edited our way to success.

After meeting with Anne drove to the Center for the Arts-Evergreen where I had organized the Ann Bunn Memorial Project.  Ann Bunn was a prominent artist in the Evergreen community and passed away a year ago.  I along with the Evergreeen Artists Association created clay tiles to be used in a wall mural dedicated to the memory of Ann.  Pictured here is Catherine Connors and Sue Bittel working on their tiles.

After the Memorial Project I picked up my friend Gayla and drove down to Denver for an art reception held at Peter Durst’s studio.

The next morning I awoke bright and early to greet my assistant Kelsey Parks at my studio door.  Kelsey is a tremendous help in the studio and does everything from inventorying my work and puttying frames to delivering my artwork to various venues.

Alas, here I am framing a new painting.  It is Sunday, a day that many people take off from work.  Today I am in the studio from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m..

Thoughts and Stories

Kathy demonstrating her pastel painting technique at the Evergreen Artists Association program.

Ever hear of the Evergreen Artists Association?  This is a group of like minded people who get together throughout the month to celebrate art through different on-going art programs and activities.  I was asked by the EAA programs director if I would give a history of myself as an artist as well as a painting demonstration.  The program was held at the Center for the Arts-Evergreen on January 22nd.

The advertisement for this program read:  Please join us as we listen to Kathy’s inspiring thoughts and amusing stories of where she came from and where she is going as an artist.

A lot of people laughed during the program so I imagine I must have told amusing stories….
